Xperia C: Captain Cool
Display and Build:
The Xperia C is a mid
range offering by Sony in a dual sim form with the looks of a flagship. It is
well built for a mid ranger and houses a qHD TFT display (540x960) of 5”
diagonal. The display ppi is a decent 220ppi. Build quality is excellent and
feels solid. The
purple edition is particularly good looking phone.
Internal Specifications and Operating
System
This is Sony’s first phone with a
Mediatek processor. They have implemented a quad core Cortex A-7 chipset
clocked at 1.2GHz and provided 1GB of RAM and 4GB storage. The sensors
included are a accelerometer, proximity sensor and compass. The phone is
powered by a 2390 mAh battery which is very good to see in a mid-range
offering.
The phone runs on Android 4.2.2 Jellybean and Sony has stated that it
won’t be receiving an update to Kitkat.
Camera
The Xperia C has an 8MP autofocus
camera with flash capable of FullHD video recording and a front facing VGA
camera. The rear camera features various modes like face/smile detection and
HDR.
Connectivity
The Xperia C can be used anywhere in the
world with support for quad-band GSM and dual band 3G. It supports CDMA, HSDPA,
LTE as well. It has Wifi, Bluetooth v4.0. The phone has dual sims with dual
standby.
Final Words
The Xperia C is standard fare from Sony
and a decent mid range phone with good battery life. This is Sony’s first
attempt with using a MediaTek processor and it performs well enough for daily
use.
